The coach needs to come up with a change in the line-up after the loss against Betis
Barça seemed to be shocked after Leo Messi's injury, but the team managed greatly without their best player, particularly against Real Madrid (5-1) and against Inter Milan (2-0/1-1). When Messi was back against Betis, everyone was expecting a nice performance and another win before the national teams stops. Although Leo Messi scored twice, Betis was better and deserved to win in the Camp Nou.
The defeat has made significant the match against Atlético Madrid. Barça is leadering LaLiga but just with one point on Atlético, Sevilla and Alavés. What is worst, Ivan Rakitic is missing the match because he was sent off against Betis and Philippe Coutinho has just been recovered and he is not at the 100%.
In this situation, Ernesto Valverde needs to come up with well-balanced line-up as he did with Rafinha or Dembélé when Messi was injured. Arturo Vidal arrived from Chile on Thursday, he just trained one day but it is expected to see him in the line-up. Another option is that Sergi Roberto plays as a midfielder, what will move Semedo as right wing back.
After the loss against Betis, when Barça was attacking with three forwards and team was broken, it is clear that Valverde will play with 4 midfielders. The match against Atlético will be intense and competed, so the team need a tough and compacted midfield. Messi and Suárez are fixed and between Busquets, Arthur, Arturo Vidal, Coutinho and Roberto, Valverde will choose four of these five.
In the back line, Jordi Alba and Gerard Piqué are also fixed. The doubt is between Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti, who has already been recovered; and between Semedo and Roberto, depending if this last one plays as a midfielder or not.
